How to record a voiceover in your browser

1. Give your recording its own project

Open Voice Cadence and choose Projects → New project. Give the project a useful name, such as “Tutorial introduction.” Existing projects stay in your local library, so a new recording does not replace yesterday’s work.

Choose Edit script and paste the words you plan to read. Use short paragraphs with natural pauses. Remove citations and long web addresses you do not intend to speak; pasted text becomes part of the prompter.

2. Listen to your microphone before the full take

Expand Your microphone, select the input you want, and choose Check microphone. Allow microphone permission, record the five-second sample, and play it back. Check that the correct microphone is active and that your voice is clear.

If the level is very low, move closer or adjust the input level. If it is too loud, lower the gain or move farther away. Try Reduce background noise if the room is noisy, then compare another sample. The test sample is discarded when you close the check and is not added to your project.

3. Set a comfortable reading pace

Adjust text size until the script is easy to read at your recording distance. Start with a comfortable fixed scroll speed and use Preview scroll to try it without recording.

The default scroll delay is five seconds after recording begins. The recording countdown and start sound happen first; then audio capture begins, followed by the scroll delay. Preview scrolling and resuming a paused take do not repeat that delay.

4. Record without restarting every time you stumble

Choose Start recording and wait for the countdown. During the take, use Pause and Resume when you need a break. The live waveform helps you see that sound is arriving.

When you make a mistake, choose Mark mistake or press M, pause briefly, and repeat the sentence. You can review the moment later. Finish take saves the recording and takes you toward editing; a stumble does not mean you need to discard the whole take.

5. Review, edit, and export

Open Edit audio and listen to the take. Drag on the waveform to select a passage, zoom in to refine the boundaries, and use Listen to selection before deleting or re-recording it. Undo restores an edit if you change your mind.

For word-based editing, sign in with Google and choose Transcribe locally. Recording and waveform editing do not require sign-in. When ready, choose Export audio, preview the complete edit, name the file, and download the WAV. Save a project backup as well if you want to keep the original takes and edit history outside your browser.

Before you close the tab

Recordings are stored in this browser on this device. They do not automatically sync with Google or another computer. Keep the recording tab open during capture, and download a .cadence backup before clearing browser data or changing devices.
